Conceptually Claire is interested in current Chaos Theory, specifically when applied to Nature: ‘nature most often works in patterns which are caused by the sum of many tiny pulses’.
Claire is also intrigued by the inner world of the unconscious (both individual and collective) and how this influences the creative process. She interprets her interests via an allegorical painting style.
She gains her inspiration in inland Andalucia. She is enchanted by the Andalucian light which perpetually alters the landscape and enhances amazing sky-scapes. Within this environment she observes the mutability and interconnectivity of the elements’, which so fascinate her.
Claire paints with acrylics on metallic card. She enjoys the challenge of working on a reflective surface – in order to apply (and remove) the paint from such a surface she has to literally ‘see past herself’. The reflective surface enables her to capture light in a dynamic way; whilst the use of acrylics requires her to work quickly, intuitively and decisively. Claire embraces colour in her compositions, as a means of conveying emotion.
