John has always been passionate about 3D making. Until his mid twenties his main interest was ceramics, completing a degree in Fine Art Sculpture at Bath Spa University College in 2000.
In 2005, whilst working as a gardener, he attended an evening class in metal sculpture. Taking inspiration from nature, natural forms and his fascination of insects, he started making the metal sculptures he is producing today.
John uses mild steel, often beaten on an anvil to give form and texture. He sometimes combines selected found objects and welds overlapping armour-like structures to form the qualities of creatures.
