Margaret Crutchley

Margaret paint portraits and landscapes in oils and acrylic, which, with their intense colours, clearly marked shapes and bold contrasts, are representational but slightly stylized.

Margaret has always loved the English countryside and in painting her landscapes she aims to evoke in the viewer the same emotions she experienced when first viewing the scene.

Margaret is also interested in people; their personalities and the way in which these affect their appearance, stance and movements. In the fascinating exercise of studying faces, she aims to capture the likeness, character and situation of her subject.

Margaret has completed a number of commissions and the planning and execution of such works is a source of fascination and delight to her as an artist.
